Dawn Atkinson is Director of Operations for MED-EL
North America. She oversees both the Customer Service and Product
Control Departments. As a company, Customer Service is viewed
as one of MED-EL’s most important focus areas. Although
every employee strives to provide a high level of customer service
in a wide variety of ways, the Customer Service Department is
tasked to interact with all customer groups: audiologists, surgeons,
implant users, and other service providers such as school personnel.
It is critical for MED-EL to ensure that customer experiences
are positive and productive, and the Customer Service Team embodies
the understanding that good hearing is dependent upon having
access to functional equipment and caring support. The Product
Control Department ensures that systems are in place for proper
handling of implants and equipment by all staff in keeping with
company policy, quality standards and federal regulations. In
addition to managing inventory demands, Dawn oversees all product
control and traceability for MED-EL US, MED-EL Canada, as well
as Vibrant MED-EL.
Dawn joined the company in 2001 as a Customer
Service Specialist. Her interest in Product Control and her
leadership skills led to promotion to the role of Manager of
Customer Service/Product Control. She was promoted to Operations
Director in 2005.
Dawn earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Health
Promotion from Appalachian State University. Prior to joining
MED-EL, Dawn worked with the American Heart Association and
the University of North Carolina Diabetes Care Program.
